This competition is a challenge to Schools in Britain* to compete for the "Champion School Cup". Juniors, Children and Minis can take part, and the points system ensures that they all compete against each other. The races are open to individual entrants and are run under British competition rules in order to qualify for British Alpine Seeding System (BASS) national seedpoints.
The results of the Inter-School Competition are calculated from the individual results by awarding points for placings within category as follows: 1st 10 pts, 2nd 8 pts, 3rd 6 pts, 4th 4 pts, 5th 3 pts, 6th 2 pts, 7th 1 pt. The categories for which these points are awarded, for both Girls and Boys separately, are: Minis 1, Minis 2, Children I, Children II and Juniors.
Individual prizes are awarded for the top five boys and girls in each category as follows: Mini 1 racers (born 2000/2001), Mini 2 (born1998/9), Children 1 (born 1996/7), Children 2 (born 1994/5), and to the top three boys and girls in Junior 1 (born 1992/3) and Junior 2 (born 1989/1990/1991).
The British Champion School will be the one with the best total points score from a maximum of two racers to count per day and having at least two finishers per day regardless of how many of those finishers actually score points in their age category. Schools with only one finisher therefore do not register in the team results table. However, that racer is still eligible for individual prizes and may become "Schools Champion". (Where a school has divisions of “Junior” and “Main” school, entries from the two will be classed as from one school unless the organiser is otherwise informed.)
Where more than eight entries have been received from one school then that school must nominate their official eight school team members at the first captain's meeting on Sunday 8 March 2009. Only these eight racers’ results will count towards the Champion School Cup.
*In the event that an internationally based school
finishes ahead of all the British based schools in the results table
then they will be awarded an international trophy.

As host ski club of the British Inter-School Ski Challenge the BSA are delighted to announce the arrival of a New Title Sponsor, SkiBound. Steve Stewart, Head of Marketing for SkiBound says –
“As the UK’s longest establish specialist provider of ski trips for schools, we are delighted to be supporting the British Inter-School Ski Challenge. Over half a million school children have learned to ski with SkiBound in the 25 years that we have been providing snowsports solutions for schools, and we see the work of the BSA and the ISSC as vital in continuing to help British children realise their skiing dreams. With SkiBound’s selection of piste-side Clubhotels in France, we would be delighted to discuss the provision of training facilities for next winter with any of the participating teams, and can be contacted at info@skibound.co.uk for more details. In the meantime we wish all the competitors all the very best of luck. ” |
